Isn’t it just frustrating to go through the crazy booking process for the Ghibli Museum or Ghibli Park? Or maybe it’s simply too far to travel to Ghibli Park? The Ghibli Exhibition / ジブリパークとジブリ展 is a perfect alternative, a must-visit spot for Ghibli lovers!

Since this is a rotational exhibition, we made sure to check out the Tokyo edition in 2024, and it was absolutely worth it. From the moment we stepped inside, we were surrounded by the whimsical world of Ghibli, with stunning displays and interactive exhibits that brought our favorite films to life.

If you’re a Ghibli fan looking for an easier way to experience the magic without the hassle of booking Ghibli Museum or traveling all the way to Ghibli Park, this exhibition is the perfect choice!

What’s the Ghibli Exhibition?

Not to be confused with the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka or the Ghibli Park in Aichi, the Ghibli Exhibition is a touring exhibition smaller in size that goes around the contry. It’s smaller in scale and it moves around the country.

What’s in this Ghibli Exhibition?

The Ghibli Exhibition features life-sized set pieces similar to those at Ghibli Park, where you can take photos and interact with beloved characters. Ride the Catbus, meet Totoro, hop on the train with No-Face, explore Yubaba’s bathhouse, and so much more!

Like the Ghibli Museum, there are also numerous original hand drawings and displays showcasing the intricate creation process behind Ghibli movies. This exhibition gives you a unique peek into the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each film, including detailed insights into the recent movie “Earwig and the Witch.”

One of the standout features of the Ghibli Exhibition is that you can take photos and videos at designated spots, which is a rare opportunity compared to the Ghibli Museum. Don’t forget to visit the gift shop at the end of your tour, where exclusive Ghibli merchandise awaits!

How to get the tickets to the Ghibli Exhibition?

Tickets for the Ghibli Exhibition need to be booked in advance through Lawson Ticket, Boo-Woo Ticket, or NTV Zero Ticket. There are two types of tickets available:

  • Regular Tickets: JPY 1,900
  • Tickets with Bonus: JPY 2,900

Regular tickets grant you admission to the exhibition venue, including the gift shop. Tickets with a bonus provide not only admission to the exhibition but also include a meal, either ramen or spaghetti, depending on the day.

We opted for the tickets with a bonus and were guided to a delightful ship-shaped restaurant for our meal. The service was outstanding, and the experience was highly enjoyable. We highly recommend choosing the bonus tickets for the full experience!
